Residents of the south invited to meet City’s Urban Mobility team in Athlone next week

The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate will be going out to Athlone on Thursday, 24 October 2024. Residents from the southern suburbs are encouraged to join the team in Athlone at the Dulcie September Civic Centre between 15:00 and 19:00. The City’s Transport Month community road show events have been well-received thus far as residents enjoyed getting first-hand information from City experts.
‘We are taking the City’s Urban Mobility show to the South next week to hear from our residents in the southern district and get their feedback on how we can keep Cape Town moving. Urban Mobility plays a crucial role in keeping our roads safe and ensuring that traffic flows smoothly. So whether you want to ask the City about your street, a pothole, traffic calming, stormwater infrastructure, and local transport, or if you want to give input on transport matters in your area, now is your chance to meet your Urban Mobility area managers and officials, and get the answers you’ve been waiting for,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Residents are encouraged to attend these Transport Month community roadshows events in their areas to learn more about current and upcoming projects.
The Urban Mobility staff will also be available to speak to residents about exciting possibilities for those wanting to pursue a career in transport - this could be anything from building roads to planning for future transport demands and exciting innovative technologies to improve mobility.
‘Some interactive games, giveaways and entertainment have also been arranged for next week. I encourage residents to stop by after work. The information will be helpful and interesting, and also give you a better understanding of what exactly we do,’ said Councillor Quintas.
